Good crowd, delicious food, and some really nice raffle and
auction items made this year's fundraiser another success!
Two of the evening's highlights were prints by Bates County artist, Rebekah Knight, were purchased by Tony Berter of Lee's Summit, and Jeffrey and Robin Ward of Butler.
RECORD TOTAL!!! Once again the supporters of this worthy facility
for Rich Hill's "seniors" came to the "Annual PIE AUCTION Fundraiser" to create an ALL NEW RECORD TOTAL raised! Pies averaged approximately $120 EACH this year! Thanks to ALL who bid on, baked, and BOUGHT pie(s)!

"Glenn Chambers Tribute"
Another VERY SUCCESSFUL event for the Lee's Summit DU Club. Held at Stoneycreek Hotel and catered by Garozzo's Italian Restaurant. Highlight of the auction was a Browning "Sweet 16" DU 80th Anniversary edition bringing $2,500. Assorted other guns, artwork (including two Glenn Chambers prints), and DU logo items also did very well!
An enjoyable evening of FUN and FUNDRAISING for this organization's scholarship program. A variety of baked goods, hand crafted items, and other "one of a kind" items totalled up nicely for this year's event!
Once again the Citizen's Bank Pie Contest followed by the World Record Pie Auction was a TREMENDOUS SUCCESS! Raising in EXCESS of $20,000 for 40 pies proved WHY we are "FAMOUS FOR THE 4TH" in Rich Hill.
First Place pie was a Kalua Coffee Cheescake Pie baked by a resident of Hamilton, Missouri and brought $3,000. The pie bidding was originally a battle between two individual bidders who plateaued at a $1,400 bid. The two each brought on additional resources in the way of more bidders to battle to the successful bid.
This annual auction has grown from a beginning where the highest price for a pie was $400. It was followed the next year by a $700 price, then the following year an $1,100 pie, followed by the next year where the pie brought a $1,700 pie. At that point the decision was made to go for a Guinness World Record in 2012. That year a WORLD RECORD for the "Highest Price Paid for a Pie at Auction" was set at $3,100 by Jerry Mumma, Sr.
It is NOW a proven fact that "Rich Hill, Missouri is Famous for the 4th"!
Thanks to ALL who bake, bid, and buy pies!
April 8th, 2017

One of the evening's highlights was offering two pieces of artwork by Glenn Chambers, waterfowl artist ... and having HIM present!
Many THANKS to the Lee's Summit, Missouri chapter of DU for asking me to conduct your annual fundraiser for DU!
This annual fundraiser ALWAYS seems to be successful! The overwhelming support from donors and buyers, as well as the great effort put into this event is a testament to "what can be done" if it's a worthy cause and you work at it!
Again, totals hover around $30,000 with the final tally not yet completed!
Thanks again for allowing us to be the lead auctioneer for this outstanding Christian facility's primary fundraiser.
Chili/Soup Supper and Auction
Once again, an excellent turnout for this wonderful evening event! Bidders were active and supportive as is always the case for this worthy Christian School fundraiser. Assisted by Shannon Mays and Kent Bland, Larry Hacker headed the auction staff for the evening. This event once again raised NEARLY $30,000!
Honored to be conducting this event for the second year, we were able to help them set a NEW RECORD amount raised. Items sold VERY STRONG with a handmade quilt bringing a top bid of $1700.00!
